Spot on. You put into words what I’ve been struggling to articulate myself because the topic is so vast and nuanced. Beautifully woven together here. I look forward to staying connected on Substack - especially around this crucial topic. Much is shifting in these energetics - even if we can’t see it on the political stage or the on the surface of the world. But the heart of common folk humanity are surely feeling the inner conflict and call to balance these innate energies to restore wholeness into their sense of self & meaning - even if they don’t consciously realize that’s what they’re feeling. Thank you for your voice. 🙏

Hey Amanda! Thank you for reading and sharing. I truly appreciate you sharing this. I am so open to us connecting on this bridge of the political and the spiritual. I'm recognizing something—that stepping out of the American or First World patriarchal matrix and integrating into rural, natural spaces still more rooted in the primordial womb/matriarchal matrix allows us to receive these subtle downloads into the shifts occurring.

This call we feel to return to these seemingly alternative paths of living is truly a return to the primordial ways of working and living. It is so much—and such an interesting journey—not without its challenges, but truly soul medicine.

Give thanks for your perspective, insights, and wisdom Makeda. I am a white woman who has been living in Portland, Jamaica for 7 years now and hasn't left the island since July 2023. I hold so much reverence for this land, and I am deeply grateful to spirit for guiding me here and keeping me here. While I will never fully innerstand the experience of the black woman on this planet as that is not the body I was born into for this life, at our essence, we are of the same light, and I feel and see you on the soul level. I choose to think of Jamaica as a developing country instead of a third world country. The term third world country feels like Jamaica (and other countries deemed this way) is somehow less than when compared to other countries, and I refuse to accept that narrative. Jamaica has its issues, as does every other place in this world, but this island and its people are just as worthy as any other place on Earth. Man created borders, man created the idea of countries, and man created the idea of separation. The divine light that we are all made from knows nothing of these things. 💫🙏

This land needs your consciousness and your light, Makeda. Stand in your power as a fellow frequency holder on this land and continue to walk in your light, trusting that you are exactly where you are meant to be. I am sending you so much love, peace, and solidarity on your journey. A deep bow to you, Makeda. Jamaica land we love. Out of many, one people. One love. 🙏🩵☮️🫂

Greetings Deanna, thank you for taking the time to read my post. I respect your stance on the Third World topic, though I hold firm in my usage of the term because it’s what resonates with my present journey. I’ll share a brief reasoning on why I strategically and intentionally use the ‘Third World’ title instead of ‘Developing Country’. My intention is to eventually do an extended blog post on this.

•••

The term Third World centered socioeconomics and politics. I’m sure you know the reason the terminology was coined, but it echoed the impoverished states that Third World countries were left in. Many, of course, highlight the fact that since those times, our countries have developed—more so in infrastructures and the socioeconomic landscapes—but again, this is only in certain areas. As you may know, from your time spent here, there are so many—too many—rural areas still navigating very impoverished socioeconomic living conditions.

•••

Now, the other part to this term is the PsychoSpiritual layer—which echoes the devolution in consciousness of our people and enslavement to patriarchal religion and social constructs. It’s not random that the Third World, despite being so connected to the natural environment, has some of the most indoctrinated people. Presently, my heart aches at the state of my people as I witness, daily, the total lack of awareness of the spiritual shifts occurring—shifts that many First World people seem to be so aware of.

•••

There is so much to share, but as I said, a blog post would be more fitting. My spirit and soul alignment journey bids me to keep using this term, strategically.

•••

It sucks that the only development that seems to be happening is shifting our island to being more of a replica of America to bring in expats and tourists—while our people continue to go down a very dark path of low-conscious living, food insecurity, and the many impacts of what colonization did to us.

•••

They may try to shift our mindset to think we are ‘developing’ by a change of term, but deep down, the spiritual spells and very real impacts of what occurred when they coined the term ‘Third World’ for our country are still active. Hence, I—myself, a woman called to a path of deep karmic healing—will use the term they gridlocked us in to highlight the truth of what is happening behind the scenes, while they promote this ‘developing country’ narrative to make the island look good.

•••

And I know not all who resonate with this developing country term come with insidious intentions, but I must stand in what I feel to be my part in breaking these socioeconomic and psycho-spiritual barriers—to reveal what is true for those of us from the lowest socioeconomic backgrounds, even as they try to make the island not appear as rough as we know it is

•••

Blessings, and I appreciate you articulating with such respect and reverence for my path as a Black Jamaican woman. Respect to you, sister in love and light. 🌱

It took me ages to realize that though people use the term third world to mean poor countries, it actually meant non-aligned with the west and also non-aligned with communist states. And indeed “developing” into what exactly, consumerism and extractive capitalism should not be a goal but sadly it has become so.
